Great Birthday Party Ideas for Teenage Twins

Why not throw a themed birthday party for your teen or pre-teen twins? Here are some great ideas to get you started.

Music Party: Rent or buy a karaoke machine and video games that incorporate dancing, like "Dance Dance Revolution." Play music videos on TV and plaster the walls with posters of popular groups and singers. Hold a talent show and award winners with CDs, gift cards for music downloads and posters.

Jewelry Party: Girls especially love this idea. Buy lots of beads and materials to make necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Include plenty of wire cutters, scissors, string, etc. Have patterns available or hire someone to give a lesson!

Sports Party: This can be done in many ways. Arrange for a party at a rock climbing facility or a skate park. Rent some court space at a sports arena, park or YMCA. Or set up sporting activities in your yard: a volleyball court, swimming, croquet, a baseball game. You could even take the kids to a sporting event, like a baseball or basketball game.

Movie Party: Have lots of teen-favorite movies on hand. Encourage the kids to create movies amongst themselves with video cameras and show them at the end of the party. Let your twins give "Twins Choice" awards for the best movies. Decorate with movie posters; serve popcorn, candy and nachos.

Luau Party: Decorate your house with a tropical theme. Do the limbo and hire an instructor to teach guests the hula! Make smoothies to drink. Serve pineapple pizza. Encourage guests to dress in grass skirts and flowered shirts, and hand out leis.

Pizza Party: What kid doesn't like pizza? Pass out pre-made mini-crusts and let each guest make his or her own pizza with lots of choices for toppings. Yum yum! Or head on down to the pizza parlor for dinner and video games.

Video Game Party: Rent or borrow various video game systems (PlayStation, Nintendo, GameCube, etc.) and set up gaming stations throughout the house. Make sure you have plenty of popular games available. Award prizes to the winners!

Costume Party: Pick a theme and request that guests come in costume! A renaissance theme is always fun! If it's a co-ed party, have guests dress as the opposite sex. Ask guests to dress as their favorite celebrity, cartoon character, monster or rock star. Pick a decade with fun clothing styles, such as the 1950s or 1970s. Give prizes for the most creative costumes.

Bowling Party: Many bowling alleys have evenings tailored especially for teens, with laser lights, disco balls and popular music. Check with your local bowling alleys to see if they have a party package and/or a teen night!

Beauty Party: Girls may enjoy a night of beauty! Arrange for someone to come to the house to give manicures and pedicures. Load up on the makeup and hairstyling supplies and let the girls work on each other's faces and hair. Tell the girls to bring their favorite outfit and have a fashion show!
